Manual Extensions
Can my customer extend their lease? Yes! however, there are some rules. We cannot extend a lease beyond the IRDs maximum duration of 45 months total. So if a customer has leased a car for 36 months we can extend for 9 months maximum. We will only accept lease extensions of 5-12 months. The exception to this is for customers who are replacing their lease car with another new lease. In these cases, we will do a manual extension for 1-3 months to allow for the new car to arrive.
Why can't they manually extend for 3 months or less if they don't order another car? The process of manually extending leases is an extremely manual process internally for Honda. Along with difficulties in forecasting servicing work and depreciation outside of the contracted term etc. Because of this, we offer the 1-3 month extension as a reward for customers loyalty to the leasing program and Honda
My customer's new car is only one week away but the lease is expiring (maturing) what should I do? call us! if they ordered another car we will happily find a win/win solution. We may potentially let them hold onto the current car free of charge.
